Everyone who has been registered is a potential savior for the patients who are searching desperately right now for a life-saving bone marrow match.Please contact US National Marrow Donor Program(NMDP) Donor Center( if you are in US ) and register your bone marrow typing by providing a small blood sample(3-5ml).

We have setup "Friends of Haibin" group to do fund raising to support following activities:

  1. Encourage more people to join NMDP marrow donor registry.
    Why? Ads on newspaper to encourage more people to join NMDP marrow donor registry.The more people join marrow registry,the more chance to find a miracle match.This is not only beneficial for Haibin,it is also for all the patients who are searching for a miracle marrow match to save their life.This is good for our whole community

  2. Campaign to publish and maintain www.hai-bin.net.
    Why? For the new patients who are just diagnosed CML,usually they need key info asap to help them know their own situation, and what to do next. Especially the patients in China mainland, they don't have enough channel to get enough detail medical information.So I want to use website as a center and bridge for them.

  3. Support marrow donors who just don't have money to join marrow registry.
    Why? Some people are willing to join marrow registry but due to some reason,they can not pay the HLA typing cost($70-96), we want to sponsor ourselves to support them. In some area e.g., most cities in China Mainland, the donors have to pay RMB500 (About USD63)for the HLA Typing while their monthly income is just around RMB1000(About USD125). The cost of HLA Typing is a big resistance to these people to join the marrow registry.

  4. Support Platelet donors during Haibin's BMT.
    Why? During Bone Marrow Transplant,for my case,per Hackensack University Medical Center's guideline, I need two platelet donor each day for 21 days. If we have money, we want to cover the co-pay for these donation visits and other misc fees such as parking fee etc.

  5. The medical insurance uncovered BMT expense before/during/after BMT.
    Why this item is on the original list but now I want to remove it from current list?People always think medical insurance should cover all the expense.This is not true as some insurance doesn't cover Bone Marrow Transplant(BMT) at all while some insurance may cover just a part of it. For my case, my insurance should cover the medical expense from in-network transplant center, but following costs will be definately not covered.
    (1) Backup of my own bone marrow before BMT.
    (2) Spem Banking
    (3) Fees for home preparations and any change in cost of living after transplant.
    For above cost,the rough estimated is around USD30K. If big issue raised on this part, donation can't deal with it anyway,so I decide to remove it.
Donated cash and services will help pay above Item 1-4 costs.

Also donor should tell us the limitation of his/her donation's usage e.g., only for item 1.

How To Make Sure the Donation is Used correctly?
For each donation, we will follow guidelines below.
(1) All donated money will go to a separate bank account for donations
      only.
(2) Book keep time/date/donor name/amount/limitations etc..
(3) The usage of all donation will be posted penny by penny on website
      for donor to check.

We need help to setup a foundation?
We need help from lawyer and accountant to setup a foundation to manage the donations. If you can provide help, please contact hope@hai-bin.net or foundraising@hai-bin.net.
